This Lovett Hall at the Henry Ford Museum Michigan wedding was absolutely fabulous and by far one of my favorite weddings! The wedding day was perfection, the holiday season was blissful and we got to photograph in Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village! What!? It was crazy amazing. And the couple, oh the couple. Jill and Jon! The day was filled with pure love and beautiful emotion! I have so many special moments captured that I want to share! And I had my amazing partner, Amanda, by my side! It was a cold day in early December and she was a trooper through it all!
I started out this phenomenal day at The Henry Hotel in Dearborn. I’ve photographed at this hotel before, so I knew it was a great location to shoot the bride getting ready. Jill had a suite filled with the family and bridesmaids. Her and her bridesmaids all wore cute blue chambray shirts while they got ready. It was adorbs! And her details, they were so beautiful. I loved photographing her rose gold rings and customized ring boxes she had for her and the mothers. There was such a happy energy and excitement in the room. Jill looked absolutely stunning and she glowed as her mother and future mother in law helped her get into her dress. And when her dad finally saw her all put together, he looked so happy. It was a beautiful moment to capture!
After Jill and Jon were ready, we prepared them for their first look, which was so adorable! Jon was standing in the hallway for a while and just before Jill walked down the hallway to see him, he checked his watch. It was such a cute moment as he anxiously awaited to see his bride. After they talked, laughed, and embraced for a moment we were off to capture some spectacular photographs!
Jill and Jon had their wedding ceremony at The Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. This cathedral is seriously beautiful! The details inside the church made it a scenic location for these two. It was a precious and special event to witness. I always love watching the ceremony and capturing all the moments that goes with it. While the ceremony was breathtakingly special, there were more spectacular moments to be captured!
Once the ceremony was complete, we headed over to Greenfield Village. Here, we photographed the bridal party and Jill and Jon. The girls had adorable fur hand muffs and they all looked fabulous against the huge trains inside the museum. And Jill and Jon could not have looked more perfect together! You could tell by their expressions how much they loved each other and how truly special that day was for them.
While the bridal party warmed up, we photographed their amazing room in Lovett Hall. They had a table set up when you walked in with postcards from all the places they’ve traveled together over the years. It was such a cute and unique idea! And let me tell you, the decor of their room was spectacular! And Jill and Jon took center stage at their little round table in the middle of the room. Once the room was photographed, we headed out to photograph at Holiday Nights. I was so geeked about this! Like seriously, I was excited for weeks as this was a first for me! They gathered by the fire with their bridal party and enjoyed a fun moment before the reception began. The photographs from this are some of my favorite!
Afterwards, there was an amazing reception filled with family, friends, love, and joy. The speeches were hilarious and heartfelt. The dances were spectacular. And at the end of the night, something happened that I’ve never seen before. Jill and Jon had expressed that they wanted to get photographs of their whole family at the reception. Like what!? The whole family? I thought it was impossible! But sure enough, they all gathered quickly and effectively and I took one of the largest group photographs I’ve taken at wedding. It was definitely a great way to end the extraordinary day!
I could go on and on about how special this couple is or about their big day, but I will let the photographs speak for themselves. So take a look at Jill and Jon!
xoxo,
Sarah
