St. Mary’s Macedonian Orthodox Church Sterling Heights Michigan Wedding

Filed in: Weddings

In late October I photographed two of the sweetest and most amazing people ever! Jon and Nathalia had a beautiful Macedonian wedding in Sterling Heights. These two were married at St. Mary’s Macedonian Orthodox Church and their reception was held at the Macedonian Cultural Center right across from the church. The Macedonian Cultural Center was decorated beautifully! It looked better than I’ve ever seen it before! The day was filled with so much tradition and love! I wouldn’t have been able to capture it all without Amanda. She did an amazing job capturing all the Macedonian traditions with Jon!

I started the day out with Nathalia at Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. She was getting ready with her bridesmaids while I photographed all her beautiful details! She looked absolutely stunning! A bit nervous, I reassured her that everything was going to be great!

Meanwhile, Amanda was with Jon at his parents house in Troy. The morning of a Macedonian wedding is filled with family and tradition. Jon was surrounded by his whole family while he got ready for the big day! There were gifts, more traditions, and even a band playing while the family danced and celebrated!

The celebration continued at the wedding ceremony, held at St. Mary’s Macedonian Orthodox Church in Sterling Heights. Despite the construction going on inside of the church, it was a beautiful ceremony for these two! It was such a special moment to watch these two get married because I knew how much they truly loved each other. As Nathalia and Jon left the church their guests threw confetti and candy in the air. All the children (and some adults) in attendance ran to collect the candy off the ground.

Before we headed over the reception, we went back to Jon’s parents house to capture photographs of the bridal party. The woods beside his parents house were stunning! It was THE perfect fall day and the colors were absolutely gorgeous! We took Jon and Nathalia back into the woods for some alone time and some magical photographs! These two are literally SO PERFECT for each other and the love I can see when these two look at each other is incredible!

The amazing day was topped off with a spectacular reception! There was so much dancing, fun, and love! The amount of pure energy and joy in the room was unbelieveable. Their bridal party even surprised Jon and Nathalia by dressing up in chef costumes and parading around the reception hall with food and baskets. It was TOO fun!

These two will always hold a special place in my heart! Take a look at the beyond fabulous Nathalia and Jon!

  1. […] couple’s wedding in the fall and let me tell you, it was amazing! You should definitely check it out! But my journey with this couple began back in the spring. I remember that sunny afternoon like it […]

It’s about more than hiring someone to hold a camera and snap a few pics. Wedding photography is about carefully crafting and capturing the moments of your big day in a way that beautifully tells the story of your love.
