Oh my goodness, where do I start with this beautiful wedding?
Mike + Colleen are true lovers of the City of Detroit. I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone with as much passion as they have for the city. And as a photographer, photographing any wedding in Detroit makes my heart skip a beat. This was no different! Mike happens to be my husbands best friend! In fact, Mikes parents are both of my daughters godparents. So instantly knowing this wedding was happening was SO exciting for me! And then a day came when Mike + Colleen came over to ask for referrals and basic wedding help. Of course I’m upon the edge of my seat to help them. And then, Colleen with a HUGE smile asked me to be there to capture their day. I was really blown away! It’s really a big compliment when a bride gushes about your work and really wants you to be there to document their wedding day. Then it was even more special because of the friend and family portion of it.
This also happened to be a wedding my husband stood in. I never imagined that I’d be photographing a wedding that my husband was standing in! What a great experience!
Mike + Colleen knew they wanted a first look and they did just that at the Westin Book Cadillac where they also got ready. It was very important for them to see each other for the first time on the marble staircase and that they did. To say it was really special is an understatement. They really have that special smile when they look at each other, and that little giggle women make when they are looking at the love of their life. Goosebumps.
From their first look we managed to travel around the city for pictures and you guys UGH I can’t get enough of this city!
After making several stops throughout the city we made our way to the Belle Isle Conservatory and oh my seriously just gorgeous. It could not have been a more perfect day for a wedding!
Then our final stop was at the Belle Isle Casino and the party began! Good eats, yummy drinks and lots of laughter. It was incredible.
Every piece of decoration was created by Colleen herself! This pretty lady is quite the crafty lady. Probably the most crafty person I’ve ever met! I was in awe over every last detail!
