I photographed Kelly and Joe in August, and let me tell you, these two are amazing! We went to the Detroit Institute of Arts to take photographs, one of our favorite places! Sadly, they are no longer allowing wedding photographs inside the building, so we are lucky we got in when we did! I knew after I photographed their engagements in Detroit that we had to go back for some wedding photographs! It was a great day, and not to mention that I had an awesome second shooter with me, Cara with Captivated by Cara! I love that girl!
On the day of their wedding, just like the day of their engagement shoot, Kelly was running behind! It is a joke in her family that she is always late, but it didn’t slow us down! She got ready at her parents house in Sterling Heights when she arrived. She looked beautiful and then she put on her stunning dress, WOW! The back of her dress was absolutely amazing! Joe got ready nearby at his sister’s house in Sterling Heights. While getting ready he received a gift from his bride to be, a Shinola watch! He loved it and immediately put it on!
Kelly and Joe had their ceremony at St. Mary Our Lady Queen of Families in Center Line. Before the ceremony, Kelly stood with her dad, chatting and adjusting her dress so everything was perfect as she walked down the aisle. It wouldn’t have mattered if everything was out of place, Joe was just ecstatic to see his bride!
Following the ceremony, we headed to the DIA to take some fabulous photographs. Like I’ve mentioned before, Joe is hilarious. He obviously couldn’t go without a funny photograph, so him and his groomsmen positioned themselves as football players. If only we had a ball! But the funnest part happened later in the evening!
At the reception, located at the Vintage House, Joe’s best man had a hysterical speech! After talking about the traditional best man stuff, he continued to read a book written by Joe when he was in elementary school. Joe was even funny as a kid! It talked about his family, his life, his interests, but everything started with the same introduction, Hi I’m Joe..! TOO funny! The fun didn’t end then, there was more laughing, dancing, and mingling all night! And at the end of it all, we captured a magical, beautiful night photograph under the gazebo. Perfection!
Take a look at the SPECTACULAR Kelly and Joe!!!
