Inn on Ferry Street Colony Club Detroit Wedding | Sarah Kossuch Photography

This Inn on Ferry Street & Colony Club Detroit wedding was fantastic. The weather, the people, the locations, everything was amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better day!

We started out the beautiful Saturday at the Inn on Ferry Street in Detroit. I don’t know how I’ve never photographed here before because it is seriously amazing. It is a row of adorable, vintage mansions that are used as hotels. The architecture was great and the light streaming in the old windows was perfect for photographing. We photographed the bride and groom getting ready here as well as some bridal party photographs, and it was stunning! I wish we could have spent more time photographing here, but it was a busy day filled with other fabulous locations.

The wedding ceremony was held at Old St. Mary’s Church right near Greektown. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and it was such a joy watching Lauren and Eric get married. And afterwards Lauren and Eric reenacted a picture of Lauren’s parents on their wedding day on the corner of the street by the church. Too precious!

After the ceremony we headed over to the Detroit Institute of Arts to photograph the bridal party. There were seriously three other bridal parties there at the time, so space was limited! But we locked down a solid spot in front of the expansive white granite wall. The bridal party looked fabulous! Before heading off the next location, Lauren and Eric sat on the steps at the DIA and as the newlyweds snuggled into each other, we photographed the magic between them! Afterwards, we went to the McGregor Center on Wayne State’s campus. I’ve also never photographed here before, but the meaning behind this place made it a special location to photograph. Lauren, an incredible architect, designed a building with inspiration from the McGregor Center, so it was definitely important to include on their big day! After more bridal party photographs and some cool multiple exposure shots, we were off to the big paint splash wall known as the Illuminated Mural. I’ve photographed here several times, but I still managed to go the wrong way down a one way street getting there, oops! Once the pictures were done, we were off to the Colony Club Detroit!

While the traffic outside the Colony Club Detroit was crazy bad, the reception was crazy beautiful. It was decorated with sparkling gold and the sunset shining through the grand windows made the whole room glow. Their family and friends traveled from afar to see the beautiful Lauren and Eric get married. The two originally met in Washington state and then made their way back to Lauren’s home state, Michigan. Couldn’t have been more perfect! Their reception was absolutely gorgeous and I loved capturing every special moment.

So before this turns into a novel, I’ll end it here. But seriously, check out this amazing Detroit wedding!!!

xoxo,

Sarah
