THE INDEX

This is one big giant special blog post you guys. Our very own Nicole married her squeeze last month and Lindsey was there to document their Maple Cove and Indianwood Country Club wedding. Their story has me in awe. Nicole has been with us for 3 years now and stumbling into each others paths has been the best thing for our team. I have gotten to know Nicole as she’s been with us and I found out that she and Ben have been together since they were teenagers! This speaks volumes to me because being together today shows not only how much in love they are but how loyal they are to each other.

Nicole managed to find this cute bed and breakfast to get ready at called Maple Cove. You GUYS this place! It’s absolutely beautiful!! One of the cutest getting ready locations we’ve seen and it was perfect for Nicole’s personality and comforting for her as she prepared for the biggest day of her life. Everything about Maple Cove had character. From the curtains, to the furniture to the wooden stairs. Absolutely beautiful.

Nicole and Ben had a first look so that they could have that moment alone (which we of course LOVE). And the sweetest reaction you can experience is seeing the groom really take it in and express emotional happiness without a care in the world except for seeing his wife right in front of him for the first time.

From the first look Nicole & Ben headed for their ceremony at Kensington church in Troy, Michigan. This was very special for both of their families and it showed. Every image taken showed so much happiness in their faces it truly is very warming to see.

After the ceremony Nicole really wanted just the two of them documented because that is what their day was about, them. They went to the Troy Historic Village and even went to Tim Hortons! For those of you do not know, Nicole is Canadian so Timmy’s is a must for her! These are some of the most beautiful images I have seen (BRAVO Linds!!!!) This, this right here is Nicole + Ben to a T. They love each other, they have tons of passion and most importantly they make each other happy!

They celebrated their day at Indianwood Country Club and managed to go outside for a few more sunset photos which again, WOW! Unbelievable. And this too, again, we see weddings every weekend but the emotion from both families is something that we cannot stage. It’s real, it’s true. its raw and it’s perfect. Their night ended with an incredibly successful day and we could not be more honored to have been their to document their story. Nicole is pretty much obsessed with the fine arts so most of this blog consists of images I know will be her favorites in the fine art edit. Congratulations Nicole and Ben, your wedding was absolutely beautiful.

xoxoxo,

Sarah

Where do I begin with Tori and Mike’s big day? I could tell you all about the amazing adventure it was or the deep, strong love shared between Tori and Mike. There is so much to say about it all! All good things, of course! This Detroit Eastern Market Wedding was too fun! I had a blast capturing their special day and all the moments from beginning to end.

I started the day with Tori at her home in Berkley. Their adorable house was the perfect setting for the girls to get ready in. Everyone was relaxed and in their element. The fabulous, Jen Prouty, who was my associate shooter for the day, met up with the guys at the Detroit Renaissance Center. These two met up at the Detroit Ren Cen for their first look and let me tell you, it was adorable. I could tell by the pure emotions and genuine smiles it was going to be a good day, and a fabulous future for Tori and Mike!

Following their heart throbbing first look, we took a tour around Detroit. This wedding was about as Detroit rad as it gets! We photographed the bridal party along the Detroit skyline at The Z Lot and found some awesome graffiti walls painted stunning, bright colors. The amazingly fun bridal party rocked out being fabulous in any setting they were in! They were one of the funnest bunches I’ve photographed!

After documenting all the laughs and crazy moments, we were off to the official part of the day, their ceremony! These two fabulous folks wed at Royal Oak First Methodist Church. All the feels, people! It was absolutely beautiful to witness these two souls get married! It went by so fast! I’m sure they felt the same way. It wasn’t long before we were heading off to the party!

Located at the north end of the Detroit’s Eastern Market, these two held their reception at The Eastern. This historic, industrial building was so awesome! And it was decorated perfectly! Like seriously, the flowers and decor were stunning and totally fit into this unique, vintage space! Oh, and I almost forgot, the awesome chalk wall! Tori and Mike had their guests sign this stunning wall with notes of love! It was too cool!

Like I said, I could go on forever. But there are fabulous photographs to share! Take a peek at the cutest Tori and Mike!

All the love,

Lindsey

It was one spectacular, beautiful day when Nick and LeRae wed in Traverse City! I absolutely love up north weddings, and theirs is no exception! The weather held out and the wind made for fabulous photographs. This Traverse City Opera House wedding was better than I could have hoped for! From the ceremony at West Bay Beach to the awesome photographs at Interlochen, every bit of the day was awesome!

One of my favorite gals, Nicole, traveled up to TC with me to capture their special day! I dropped Nicole off at West Bay Beach to capture the morning with Nicholas and I headed over to Indigo Hotel to hang with LeRae and her ladies. LeRae rocked out a gorgeous, long veil on her big day. It was a stunning process to get it all into place and it truly completed her wedding day look! Beautiful!

Honestly, the whole day was beautiful! The wind threatened to move their ceremony, but the down to earth LeRae and Nick didn’t let a little mother nature stop them. They persisted and it was TOTALLY worth it! The sunshine and the waves were apart of their day, and it stunning Grand Traverse Bay was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony.

And while I absolutely love the ceremony, the BEST part about the day is that we got to go back to where these two met. How often does that happen on a wedding day!?! Almost never! These two met at Interlochen Center for the Arts. They’re both incredibly musically talented so no surprise there! The camp was so COOL! The staff was extremely friendly and all the campers were so excited to see a bridal party there. Word traveled fast and soon the whole camp knew that their were newlyweds on the premises. The excitement was bursting at the seams!

When I thought of photographing these two at a camp, I thought of old cafeteria halls and dingy dorms buried in the woods. But this camp had a beautiful campus located on the water! I was blown away! It was a perfect location for photos! We took the bridal party to the large outdoor theatre for photographs and they had a blast on stage! As the bridal party talked and laughed, reminiscing about the good old days, we captured some quiet (and hilarious) moments of LeRae and Nicholas cuddled up in the seats. Too freaking CUTE!

It was hard to drag these two away from a place that they hold so dearly in their heart. They found love at this place where they pursued their passions, and that’s the best thing about it! We saw a glimpse of their passion and musical talent at their reception! They had an awesome reception held at The City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. Such a cool location! The guests played kazoos as LeRae and Nicholas entered. Something I’ve never seen before! Later on during the evening, Nicholas sang to LeRae and it melted our hearts! He is such a sweetheart and you could tell in the moment as LeRae locked eyes on him, she was madly in love with Nicholas! A true modern day musical fairytale!

But before I go on about princes and princesses, take a look at the incredibly awesome Nicholas and LeRae!

xoxo,

Sarah

This wonderful Lovett Hall summer wedding is near and dear to my heart. Not only are Katie and Matt extremely awesome people and I absolutely loved documenting their day, but I also worked alongside Amanda when we photographed her sister Rachel’s wedding in 2015. It was great to see the family again and witness Katie and Matt get married in the same church that Rachel and Bryon did just a couple years earlier! Katie and Matt wed at St. Hugo of the Hills and then celebrated the night away at Lovett Hall.

I knew when I met Katie and Matt in the fall for their engagement session that they were going to be an awesome couple to document! They were fun loving and extremely easy going. They had a blast with their engagements and it made me so excited to capture them on one of the most important days of their lives!

The day began at Katie’s parents house in Bloomfield Hills. She looked stunning as ever and there was an immense amount of positive energy in the house. All the bridesmaids were so excited for the day to begin! Before capturing Katie getting into her dress, the girls enjoyed some champagne in their beautiful backyard. While I was photographing all the joy at the family residence, Derek was capturing Matt and his groomsmen at Dearborn Inn.

It wasn’t long before we were off to St. Hugo of the Hills. Matt and the boys took a little detour on their way over to the ceremony and played a game of pool, because why not!? But it wasn’t long until all the guests were seated and the ceremony began. Their ceremony was traditional and oh so beautiful. It was awesome to witness these two get married because I know their love is genuine. From spending less than 10 hours with these two I can tell they truly and deeply love each other, and that’s special my friends!

Okay, enough gushing… It’s time for the fun part! We headed off to the Henry Ford Museum with storm clouds in the sky. The bridal party had quite the adventure on their way over! Just as the torrential downpour ended, they arrived! The rain made for some awesome photographs in the reflections. We documented Katie and Matt along with their bridal party outside of Lovett Hall.

I love shooting at Lovett Hall because it is incredibly stunning! There are beautiful backdrops everywhere! I could have taken a million shots, but Katie and Matt (like most couples) were ready for a break! They relaxed while we captured the stunning details inside of Lovett Hall. Their reception was just as beautiful as it was fun!

Katie and Matt entered with the bridal party and following dinner, the festivities began! The DJ played while the guests danced, mingled, and reminisced. I almost didn’t want to leave!

But enough said, these two are pretty awesome, and I can’t wait to share their day with you!

Cheers to Katie and Matt!

Summertime wedding bliss, pretty in pink, champagne bubbly. These are just a few things that come to mind when I think of Catie and Alex’s Palazzo Grande wedding. It was the most gorgeous summer day when these two wed at Greystone Golf Course. Their beautiful day ended at Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township. It was all sorts of perfect and I had my one of my favorite gals by my side to document it all, Lindsey!

Lindsey captured Alex’s morning with his groomsmen at Greystone, while I documented Catie at her parents house in Shelby Township. It was an intimate setting filled with family, friends, and lots of love. All the bridesmaids looked pretty in pink while they sipped their bubbly. And the flower girls were absolutely adorable in their sunglasses!

The sunglasses were definitely a priority on this sunny day! Their ceremony, held out by the water, was beautiful! The sun was shining and the guests flooded the greens with love! It was such a special moment to witness Catie and Alex tie the knot!

Following the ceremony, Lindsey and I photographed these two with their awesome bridal party! We captured the bridal party on the dock overlooking the water. Yay for long, zoom lenses! Oh and Catie and Alex rocked it out on a boat! What!? That is something you don’t see at every wedding. They looked adorable as ever cuddled up on the boat.

I wish we could have hung out on the dock all day, but I can’t always have it my way. Hey, that rhymed! Anyways, don’t mind my goofiness. These two had their fabulous ceremony at Palazzo Grande! From grand entrance to their guests partying, we captured all the festivities. Ahh, and I almost forgot to mention that Catie looked freaking stunning in her gorgeous dress! Am I right!?! She looked fabulous rocking out on the dance floor!

Take a looksy at the cutest Catie and Alex!

xoxo,

Sarah

This Rattlesnake Club wedding was such a spectacular Detroit summer wedding. I had an absolute blast documenting it. Carolyn and Kyle’s day encompassed all the great Detroit vibes! We started out the day at The Westin Book Cadillac and ended at the Rattlesnake Club, with lots of awesome stops in between!

Carolyn and her bridesmaids got ready in the Grande Suite at the Westin Book Cadillac. While the guys were down the hall getting ready, I was soaking in all the wedding bliss with Carolyn. Everything was super adorable and sentimental! Carolyn wore her grandmother’s aquamarine ring as her “something blue.” It was the SWEETEST thing ever! And all of her sisters wore it on their wedding day as well. I always love little sentimental tidbits.

And the adorableness only continued to grow from there. During Carolyn and Kyle’s first look I could just feel the excitement bubbling over! They were both SO excited to see each other and it was awesome to document! First looks are one of my favorite times during the day because the couple has this incredibly special moment of meeting for the first time on their big day. They get to take a moment to breathe, to smile, to talk, to love. Their sweet first look was followed by frolocking through birds. It was hilarious!

Shift forward from funny to absolutely loving, these two were wed at the Rattlesnake Club in the outdoor courtyard. It was an outstanding outdoor ceremony with beautiful weather and even more beautiful people, inside and out!Between the ceremony and reception, the bridal party hopped on the trolley and the photographs continued! Carolyn and Kyle rocked their portraits; such a gorgeous couple! They looked stunning walking down the streets and just standing around with wind blown hair. Their windy photographs at the Illuminated mural and gorgeous portraits at the Detroit Institute of Arts are amazing! Oh and not to mention, that they had a hilarious bridal party! The groomsmen were TOO funny!

I could document the bridal party and couple all day long, just hanging out and loving on each other, but the day goes on. Their reception was held at the atrium in Rattlesnake Club. It was an enjoyable evening of beautiful toasts and fun dancing. Their family and friends loves dancing. It always makes wedding so much more fun when everyone is on the dance floor. They were surrounded by their loved ones on the dance floor all night long.

And these two fun loving souls just moved to Nashville! How COOL is that!?

Take a look at the totally rad Carolyn and Kyle!

xoxo,

Sarah

This Detroit Yacht Club summer wedding was nothing short of amazing. It was coordinated phenomenally by Touch of Elegance and every detail was stunning. I would say that I wouldn’t change a thing about Liz and Gareth’s big day; however, there was one major hang up. The Grand Prix. An extremely popular event, The Grand Prix, was being held on the same day as Liz and Gareth’s wedding at Belle Isle. However, the crazy traffic and intense crowds didn’t stop us from capturing gorgeous photos of these two. Liz and Gareth’s wedding overshadowed the popular attraction and stole the show. Their Detroit Yacht Club wedding was spectacular and gave me all sorts of good feels.

Meg Darket was my lovely sidekick and we totally rocked the day! From the beautiful getting ready moments between Liz and Gareth to their crazy fun dance moves, we captured it all. The day began as usual and my nervousness about the chaos going on at Belle Isle faded away. As soon as I saw Liz, totally stunning, I knew it was going to be an incredible day, and it was. The girls were insanely fun to photograph, not to mention the super cute flower girl. She was a gem!

It wasn’t long after I arrived that these two had their first look. As the city skyline overlooked them, we captured the sweetest moment of the day. Liz and Gareth were ecstatic to see each other for the first time. And their joy didn’t dull throughout the day.

We headed to Belle Isle’s most infamous spot, the Conservatory. We got some fun photographs of the bridal party there and we found THE most spectacular willow tree that helped create stunning portraits of Liz and Gareth. Afterwards, we headed to the dock to capture Liz and Gareth with the Detroit skyline in the backdrop. It didn’t matter where these two were, they were just happy to be together!

And I was SO happy to document them and the details of their day. Their desserts were to die for and the speeches given by the friends and family were the most sentimental. I listened intently while documenting the all the feels and giggles. And I had to remind myself not to get down on the dance floor while these two celebrated with their guests. I captured some fun dancing photographs of these two.

While I can’t share every detail of their day, here is a highlight of Liz and Gareth’s monumental day!

All the love,

Lindsey

June was a busy month for Sarah Kossuch Photography, specifically June 3rd. We had three weddings on the same day and the excitement couldn’t have been higher. We all went woke up Saturday morning knowing that three different stories were going to be told and captured uniquely by us. While I cannot speak for the other two, I can tell you that I absolutely loved capturing Christina and Josh’s special day. This Orchard Lake Country Club summer wedding was stunning as ever and I had the pleasure of documenting it all.

As I walked into Christina’s blush dressing room on the morning of, I could feel the excitement in the air. Christina and Josh got ready at their reception location, Orchard Lake Country Club. James, from Mitten Studios, captured Josh while I documented the sweet moments between Christina and her ladies. There was a beautiful sense of calm, yet the excitement started to flourish as Christina got ready for their first look.

Josh stood out on the lawn of Orchard Lake as James documented the quiet moments just before the two saw each other. This is ALWAYS one of my favorite moments to document. I absolutely love capturing the pure joy and amazement on their faces when they see each other for the first time. It’s pure bliss! Following their first look, we captured Christina and Josh along with their bridal party before they headed off to the ceremony.

Christina and Josh had this unbelievable loving chemistry. They calmed each other and made each other laugh. It was almost too easy to capture the love between these two. They melted into each other arms and always looked at each other with genuine happiness in their eyes. Their happiness and the day did not skip a beat, Christina smiled through it all. And I swear, Josh grinned from ear to ear most of the day.

These two wed at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Shrine Chapel. It truly was a beautiful ceremony. Josh’s sisters even sang beautifully during the ceremony. There was an incredible amount of sentiment and joy packed into one ceremony. But the unique beauty of the day was only beginning.

Following Christina and Josh’s amazing speeches and dinner, these two had their first dance. And let me tell you, it was the BEST first dance ever. I’ve seen an immense amount of choreographed first dances, but none like this. Their song was unique and fun and their dance was performed with perfection. It was classy, yet modern.

The night continued with lots of dancing and I mean LOTS of dancing. Christina wasn’t afraid to dance as crazy as her guests. The energy filled the room and all the guests were hanging out on the dance floor. It’s always an awesome sight when the guests are living it up on the dance floor. I packed my photo equipment up at the end of the night knowing that these two were surrounded by the ones they loved.

I cannot wait to show you their amazing day! Take a look at the incredible Christina + Josh!

Okay guys, these two are THE cutest! Their Pinckney Recreation summer engagement filled me with all sorts of warm, happy feels! I met Mary and Dave at Pinckney Recreation Area, right near where they live. These two LOVE going there, and I can tell why. The park is not only beautiful, it also has a calm and peaceful sense about it. I love photographed Mary and Dave there. They were totally in their element! They were relaxed and their true personalities were displayed as I documented the chemistry between them!

They had a little picnic at the beginning of our session and Mary made homemade cookies! They looked delicious! After the yummy picnic, these two had a chill session on the hammock. And let me tell you, Mary looked too cute in her red dress! As I photographed, we talked and laughed. I learned so much about them!

These two loves are attending University of Michigan for med school. So not only are they adorable and charismatic, but they’re also smart! Usually opposites attract, but the similarities that they share bring them closer! I think it is so cool that through all the challenges of med school and life, these two are making it work!

Hopefully one of them is going to be a cardiologist, because they’re making my heart throb! Okay… completely cheesy, I know. But seriously, take a look at these sweethearts!

I cannot wait for their wedding at the Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor this September!

It was a beautiful day in Detroit for this Grosse Pointe War Memorial summer wedding. And we were extremely lucky that is was such a gorgeous day as Nicole and Allan had an outdoor wedding at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. I always have a bit of hesitation (overshadowed by extreme excitement) photographing outdoors weddings. The weather was better than perfect and their photographs turned out stunning. Outdoor ceremonies are my JAM! This was my last wedding before going on maternity leave so I was super happy to have the talented Heather “Kan” by my side!

I photographed these two in the fall in downtown Detroit and since then I’ve been excited for their BIG day! These two are fun and easy going, my type of people! Nicole was one of the calmest and happiest brides while she was getting ready in the morning at the Detroit Marriott in the Renaissance Center. The drinks may have helped a bit 🙂

Allan also got ready at the Detroit Marriott. The spectacular view over the Detroit River and city skyline made it a picturesque location for these two. While Heather captured the guys getting ready, I was focused on documenting the ladies! And let me tell you, Nicole looked stunning. Nicole, a beautiful person inside and out, looked even more glamorous after Detroit Glam completed her hair and makeup. She rocked the long, flowing curls! One of my favorite looks!

Also, if we’re being completely honest here,  the matching robes and cliche t-shirts are something that we see at almost every wedding. It is totally cute, but Nicole made it unique! Something I’ve never seen before! The bridesmaids weren’t wearing tradition “bridesmaids” t shirts, they each had their own individual, awesome saying! It was definitely adorable! And not to mention after they changed out of their t-shirts, they all slipped on dusty blue and neutral dresses that were way too perfect! They coordinated so well together and looked stunning!

Okay, enough about the girls, this was Nicole and Allan’s day after all. These two had a first look in the gardens at Grosse Pointe War Memorial and it was beyond precious. I always love capturing first looks because it displays authentic emotion and the true interactions between them!

Following their first look, they had their ceremony outside of the War Memorial, which is a truly spectacular building. The ceremony was amazing! And the weather totally worked in our favor! Oh, and did I mention that all their details were pinterest perfect!? Nicole’s florist, Scarlet Poppy, did a stunning job on the flowers and her bouquet. The anemones looked gorgeous!

After their beautiful and heartfelt ceremony, the guests headed inside for the reception. One of the first things I noticed was their cake. The cake, by Dessert Diva, was unbelievably cute. It was SO simple but it made it that much more elegant. I also noticed something else about their wedding favors. Instead of the traditional wedding favors, Nicole and Allan donated to the American Autoimmune Association. That is extremely meaningful! So if you don’t know what to do for a wedding party favor, choose an organization that is important to you and send some donations their way!

The special mementos didn’t end at the party favors either! They continued on the dance floor! Nicole and Allan had an awesome, fun first dance! But Allan surprised us all when he and his mother broke out into a choreographed dance! It was definitely a cool sight! The DJ, from Elite Entertainment, kept everyone on the dance floor. It was a riot! One of the craziest dance floors I’ve seen!

Well there are millions of details in a wedding day, but that’s the main gist of Nicole and Allan’s special day! As these two were honeymooning in St. Lucia, I was reminiscing over all the gorgeous details and photographs. So take a peek, that way you can reminisce too!
